Hydroxyapatite Supported Manganese Oxide as a Heterogeneous Catalyst for the Synthesis of 2, 5-Diformylfuran

A series of hydroxyapatite (HAP) supports with different Ca/P ratios were synthesized to prepare the MnOx/HAP catalysts. catalyst showed highly efficient conversion 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) into 2, 5-diformylfuran (DFF) in toluene solvent under no-alkali condition. 86.4% HMF 90.9% selectivity DFF at 120 °C for 12 h 1.0 MPa O2 over MnOx/HAP-10.0-400 obtained. The redox Mn4+/Mn3+ improved oxidation 5-HMF by lattice oxygen, and oxygen was replenished adsorbing molecules. reusability tests found could be reused up four cycles without notable loss catalytic activity. a stable reusable material further industrial exploration an environmentally friendly way.
